Flying Bear isn’t the most popular 3D printer manufacturer to come out of China, but it’s been getting some attention lately because of its Flying Bear Ghost 4S.
Asides from a public dustup back in 2017, when the company courted controversy by going after YouTube reviewer Maker’s Muse for an unflattering review of their Tornado 3D printer, their printers have never really appeared on our radar.
However, the Ghost 4S seems to be an exception to that rule, boasting close to a five-star rating on many sites and making us wonder: Is it true that it’s that good?
At just over $300, depending on where you buy it from, the Flying Bear Ghost 4S seems to offer good value for money. The machine has a sturdy all-metal frame, a 255 x 210 x 210 mm print volume, and a host of other features that many similar printers in its price range simply can’t compete with.
We haven’t gone hands-on with the Ghost 4S yet, but we’ve pored over the specs to see whether it’s worth your money. Read on for our take.
Here are some of the features you’ll find in the Flying Bear Ghost 4S.
This dual-drive extruder system is supposed to be fairly lightweight and, according to Flying Bear, should make material feeding problem-free. It’s also supposed to good for printing flexible filament.
The Ghost 4S has a 32-bit motherboard which is supposed to keep printing a more quiet experience.
This glass bed is supposed to be removable to make it easier to clean and pop your prints off when they’ve cooled. The printer also comes with a flexible magnetic mat to print on.
Though not a necessity when 3D printing, this is a handy feature that is generally not available in machines at this price point.
The setup of the printer is supposed to be relatively simple. Flying Bear has a YouTube video that more or less takes you through the entire process, though some users have noted that not all the steps are exactly the same.
This machine is built to be sturdy and the all-metal frame is part of that.
