It seems Hong Kong-based 3D printer manufacturer Peopoly hasn’t tired of its Phenom MSLA printer. After releasing it in 2019, it’s since come out with two more machines in the series: The Phenom L and the Phenom Noir.
The company, whose name is derived from the slogan polymers for the people, began in 2017 with the release of its first SLA printer, the Moai on Kickstarter. Since then, it’s switched from SLA technology to MSLA.
The Phenom L takes the sprawling original Phenom and does it one better, boasting a 50% larger build volume to print bigger parts or larger batches of smaller parts.
Priced at $3,200, the Phenom L is not being shipped out yet, but we’ve compiled everything we know about it. Read on as we review its specs.
The Phenom L is truly the big boy in the Phenom family, offering a gargantuan print volume of 346 x 194 x 400 mm. This makes it 50% bigger than the original Phenom and also significantly larger than the Noir. This sprawling print volume really opens up the possibilities of what you can produce and the ratio of price to print volume isn’t bad either.
Like other Peopoly machines, the Phenom L has a modular design. This allows for future upgrades and configurations so you don’t have to worry about your printer becoming obsolete or outdated in a few short years.
Like its predecessor, the Phenom, the Phenom L has a 4K resolution LCD screen. Compared to other MSLA resin printers, like the Elegoo Mars or Creality LD-002R, the minimum resolution almost doubles from around 47 microns to 90 microns. But though this sounds like a substantial difference, there’s not much to observe from the naked eye, unless you are doing extremely detailed, small prints.
