Much like 3D printing, food is something we just can’t live without. As such, it has become an inspiration for many talented 3D model designers who create fun and even functional designs modeled after some of their favorite foods.
In this article, we’ve gathered some of our favorite food-themed prints to showcase. These models range from realistic re-creations of different foods to fun fidgets that will have you playing with your food once again. While it may be tempting with these models, in particular, remember that everything on this list is fun to print, not to eat.
So, are you hungry for some new food-themed models to print? Then, let’s get to the list!
If you’ve got a sweet tooth for colorful pastries, this print is for you. These donuts come topped with a nice layer of icing and sprinkles, which serve to make the print look much more realistic. This model would be a good choice for decorations or food props.
A multicolor printer will get a lot of mileage out of this model, though the designer has also uploaded separate files for the icing and donut if you need to print them separately. The icing model can be a bit tricky and will need some support to get it just right.
Gardening can be a very fun and rewarding hobby, especially when working with a fidget garden. Designer 3DPmom created the original Carrot Garden model and has since expanded to create a garden with plenty of variety. Now, you’ll find models for a spinning top reddish, bouncy broccoli, rotating corn on the cob, and a nice little planter box to keep it all in.
There are a few slicer settings to keep in mind when preparing these models, such as the reddish requiring a higher infill percentage to spin properly. The designer has included detailed instructions for each of the models to help you get good prints out of them.
It’s one thing to print a single burger. You may notice that something is a little different about this burger. This model comes complete with fully articulate ingredients that assemble to create an appetizing meal. Except for the buns that keep it everything together, each model is designed to look and feel like the actual ingredients of a burger.
This design makes it very easy to print each ingredient in the colors of your choosing. The models lay flat on the build plate, which should make each of these models very easy to print. If you’d like your burger to look just like the designers, fixumdude has left a list of filament colors in the description of the model to recreate this amazing print.
For some smaller portions, here’s a collection of miniature dishes and meals. Each model has just enough detail for its size to make it easily identifiable even at such a small scale. You’ll find plenty of classics from all around the world in this collection.
A multicolor printer will make the details really pop on these models, as they were designed for easy color swapping. Alternatively, you can print them all in a single color and get creative with some paints. You’ll want to make use of brims or even rafts when printing smaller items such as these to give them better bed adhesion.
If miniature vehicles and functional egg prints are two of your favorite things, we have a surprise for you! This model features a hinged egg model that opens and closes as well as a tiny dump truck with functioning wheels and an open-box bed that fits inside of the egg for a nice little treat.
Designer agepbiz has created many different variations of this surprise egg model, each with a unique toy vehicle to stuff inside of the eggs. These vehicles range from tiny race cars to forklifts to excavators, giving you plenty of options for your next print. The egg can be printed with a latch or with holes for small magnets to keep it closed shut.
One of the many advantages of 3D printing something is just how clicky the plastic parts can feel. This is showcased perfectly in the Clicky Oreo Spinner. Modeled to the same size as a Double Stuf Oreo, the creme filling can be spun freely between the two cookies to create a satisfying clicking sound within, almost like a tactile fidget spinner.
A tiny bit of support material is needed for the inside of the cookies, while a dab of glue is used to keep the two halves together. Once assembled, and with a small enough layer height, this model will look nearly identical to the real thing.
Feel free to play around with the filling color as well to customize your cookies. For something a little more practical, check out this Oreo Container.
Whether you enjoy a good guacamole or avocado on toast, this print is a must-have for your keychain. Designed to look and feel like a real avocado, the core is held in with a snap-in-place shell. This allows the core to spin freely, giving you a nice little fidget ball on your keychain.
To keep the core as smooth as possible, it’s printed in halves that are attached together with a connecting piece and some glue. This will give you a very round and smooth ball that will spin without much friction once inside the shell. If you forego using this print as a keychain, you can also print the other half without a core for a full avocado.
Fruit flies are something that no one wants to deal with, as they can quickly make it very difficult to enjoy your meal. A common home remedy to get rid of fruit flies quickly is to pour some vinegar and soap into a container to attract them and keep them from escaping.
With this model, you can disguise your trap appropriately with a fruit-shaped fly trap print. It’s printed in three pieces, with two halves that come together to make the body of the fruit and a small stem to complete the look.
You’ll want to fill the bottom half with your solution before closing it up. The small hole near the top will allow the flies to come right in but make it difficult for them to leave. This type of trap is a great, passive way to deal with any flies that are invading your home and doubles as a nice little decoration for the kitchen.
While these containers may be small, you can’t deny that they’re adorable. Each cupcake has its own rising topper that acts as a lid for the bottom container, letting you store whatever you want inside. They’re perfect for small gifts and party favors, but you can also scale them up for a larger cupcake box.
The designer has included quite a variety of cupcakes for you to choose from, each requiring a few different prints with the frosting requiring glue to stick to the top. You can customize the colors of your prints and even use bits of extra filament snipping as sprinkles.
You may have seen similar retractable sword models around when they were trending on social media. The MakerWorld user Soap_Warrior has a new take with this fully retractable banana longsword complete with a yellow peel for a handle – a follow up to their Banana Claw Knife, The blade segments are sized so that they can slide through each other without falling out, and the tip of the banana has slots for magnets to keep the blade inside until you’re ready to draw it.
The model is designed to be printed in separate colors without needing a multicolor printer. Everything is scaled so that it can even be printed on smaller format 3D printers such as an A1 Mini with no issues. Just be sure to slow down your print speed for the blade to keep it from wobbling too much.
The blade segments are printed separately and slotted inside the main portion of the peel before being sealed off with an end connector. If you prefer vegetables over fruits, the designer has also released a Retractable Carrot Sword as well.
