Who knew that a tree-like humanoid could gather such a fan base? Since August of 2014, when Guardians of the Galaxy was released, the Groot has rightfully earned the love of Marvel fans. He’s strong, he’s gentle, he’s noble and he is definitely 3D printable.

No, a 3D printer can’t make a living Groot, but they can make very accurate representations of him. If you want to create an especially convincing Groot model, consider printing with wood filament. Though it is a PLA material with wood fibers and not a TRUE wooden filament (More on wood filament here), this material’s a great way to make a Groot who looks about to come to life and say, “I am GROOT!”

What is it? If there’s anything cooler than Groot, it’s a 3D printed Groot. Having been expertly modeled in Z-Brush, this Groot’s a blast to print and show off. At 100% scale, 0.2mm layer height, and 20% infill, this model uses about 60 grams of filament and takes approximately four hours to print. However, if you are short on material and/or time, cutting it to 0%  infill cuts time and filament use in half, while retaining ease of printing and quality of the finished model.
