The Marvel universe is undoubtedly the most well-known comic universe created to date, thanks to its popularly portrayed characters, exciting storylines, and massive fanbase. Despite the differences between the comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), their recognizable heroes and props have made a lasting impression on the minds of comic and cinema lovers alike.
3D printing has made it easy to create personal versions of MCU characters and objects. With this list, we’ve selected some of the coolest.
Like what you see but don’t have access to a 3D printer? Why not try a 3D printing service? With Craftcloud, you’ll instantly find the best price and provider for your needs, and for no additional fees!
And a quick spoiler alert: We’ll be mentioning the plots of some of the movies in the following sections, so if you haven’t seen them all yet, where have you been?
The Infinity Gauntlet is a Dwarven-made Uru glove that was created to channel the power of all six Infinity Stones. This makes it among the most powerful objects of the Marvel universe. Wielding the Gauntlet, Thanos used its power to instantly wipe out half of the living beings in the universe, a moment captured in Infinity War.
Since then, the craze for the Gauntlet has only increased, and the model we’ve got for you here is one of the most accurate depictions. It’s divided into several pieces to make it easier to fit on your print bed.
This axe was forged with the same element as that of the Infinity Gauntlet. It’s said to be the strongest weapon ever created for the Asgardians.
Interestingly, this model was released before the movie in which it was featured, having been modeled around trailers and leaked images. Nevertheless, it’s very close to the prop in the movie.
And who can ever forget Thor’s arrival in Wakanda at the end of Infinity War? Sure, it didn’t go according to plan, but what an entrance.
Black Panther plays a unique role in the Marvel universe, serving as the king and protector of Wakanda. His debut in the MCU was particularly well-received.
This is a replica of the helmet from the film Captain America: Civil War and is very close to the movie version. A two-toned appearance gives it a minimal yet striking look. The model is printed in pieces, and the maker has also uploaded a one-piece version. You should definitely post-process the final print to give it the respect it deserves.
In spite of starting out as the villain in Thor, Loki has been a fan favorite right off the bat. The recent Loki series delves deeper into his character, and for the first time, we get to see another side (or several) of Loki.
If you want the Loki look for your next cosplay event, you ought to have both the scepter and the crown. These models are made by different designers, but they’re both remarkably close to the actual props. The great part about the scepter is that it even has the ominous glow of the Infinity Stone, thanks to LEDs embedded in it. And if you have a large 3D printer, you can print the helmet all in one piece.
Natasha Romanov AKA Black Widow is one of the few regular “human” characters in the Marvel universe. Her character’s presence humanizes the concept of the superhero and makes it more relatable. The movie Black Widow gives great insight into her origins and her place in the Marvel universe.
This model is a figurine of Black Widow in a powerful stance. The figurine is closely modeled after the character in Age of Ultron. You can print the model on a resin 3D printer for better detail (like the one shown above), or even on an FDM 3D printer, though you’ll want to use a small layer height.
The Mark XLIV Armor, better known as the Hulkbuster, made its first appearance in Age of Ultron and later in Infinity War. The onscreen presence of the armor was more than spectacular, and watching it in action is an exhilarating experience.
This model is detailed and visually appealing. It stands at just over a foot tall at 85% scale, so don’t worry about it being too small! Also, it can be printed in separate pieces, which you can later post-process.
Many makers love the model and just can’t get enough of it. Check out the community prints and see for yourself!
Scarlet Witch was perhaps a less prominent character in the Marvel universe until the release of WandaVision. Wanda’s powers were more thoroughly explored in the series, and the new costume revealed at the conclusion of the series is truly a sight to behold.
This model perfectly captures Scarlet Witch, ready to cause some chaos. The model replicates the WandaVision Scarlet Witch in her full costume along with the headgear. The model prints in a single piece and without supports, as you can see in the video below!
The Eye of Agamotto was first featured in the movie Doctor Strange. The Eye draws its inspiration from the All-Seeing Eye of the Buddha. It’s said that this power relic was created by Agamotto himself to contain the Time Stone.
The maker has done an excellent job of putting together the eye as closely as possible to the real movie prop. Not just a showpiece, this eye reveals the hidden Time Stone inside it, similar to the one shown in the movie.
With all the electronics and mechanical components nicely tucked away, this one is an excellent example of some amazing tinkering skills. It’s a must-have for those looking to have the power of the Sorcerer Supreme.
Captain America’s shield is a symbol of great importance. In Endgame when Thanos’ repeated blows break the shield, it represents the broken spirits of the Avengers – yet there’s still hope as Cap holds on to it. For anyone who’s into Marvel memorabilia, the broken shield is a good addition to your collection.
The broken shield model is certainly not a one-day project. It’s very similar in scale to the movie shield and needs to be printed in at least four parts. The parts later need some sanding and painting, but the result is well worth the effort. There are many posted makes of the shield that you can take inspiration from.
Endgame marked the end of an amazing era. While there were many collectible items from the movie, perhaps the most underrated was Tony Stark’s arc reactor. The newly designed, sleek-looking arc reactor was easily detachable and housed the entire Mk 85 nanotech suit inside it.
This model isn’t just an impressive replica of the Endgame arc reactor, but it also doubles as a wireless charger! No need to be intimidated to take this project on as there’s an assembly video from the designer to help you put it together. If you want to upgrade it to a charger, you’ll need to follow the project on Hackaday.
This is more than just a collection of amazing models. The PLAkit characters have a unique spin on many of the major characters from the Marvel universe. They make great presents for toy collectors and Marvel fans alike.
Here are some notable models:
Some of these models can be easily printed without supports. Besides models from the Marvel universe, the designer Purakito has some amazing collections of characters for DC (as pictured!), Harry Potter, and many more fandoms.
Formerly known as Stark Tower, the Avengers Tower is the first self-sustained building in Manhattan, New York (in the world of the movies). The towering skyscraper is entirely powered by clean energy, thanks to Tony’s arc reactor technology.
The model is obviously a scaled-down version of the original building. Nonetheless, it has quite exquisite detailing, and the maker has done an excellent job of splitting the model so that it can be printed without any supports. The tower stands at around 150 mm as is, but you can scale it to any size you like.
In the MCU, Ultron was an AI created by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner as a means of maintaining peace on Earth. Unfortunately, that didn’t turn out too well…
Ultron’s mask from the film is easily recognizable, but if you want an accurate look, you’ll probably need to do a bit of post-processing of this model. That said, printed in a silver-colored or metal filament, it still looks pretty cool.
Wear the mask or keep it as a showpiece. Either way, it makes a great item to add to your collection.
This Asgardian automaton made its debut in the MCU in the first Thor movie. The Destroyer is an enchanted Asgardian suit of armor created by Odin.
The model is very detailed and accurate, which means it’s best printed on SLA or DLP machines.
Venom falls in that category of characters who can’t exactly be called superheroes, but aren’t supervillains, either. Venom was popularized by films in 2018 and 2021. The character, as shown in the movies, is quite boorish, yet there’s something lovable about the symbiote, too.
The model was designed to be printed in one piece, but one maker has kindly split it into parts for ease of printing.
The adorable tree-creature who captured our hearts with his first appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. I is one character without whom this list would be incomplete. Even with his limited vocabulary, Groot made an impression that’s sure to last a very long time.
With the subsequent appearance of Baby Groot, the character’s popularity has only grown. And teenaged Groot is still adorable, even if he’s rather too focused on his videogames. But what teenager isn’t?
With so many models based on the beloved character, we recommend you head over to our dedicated list of Groot models.
