It’s that special time of year when the beer halls are filled with sausages and pretzels. And of course, beer! Pre-covid Oktoberfests saw more than 7 million liters of beer consumed over the 16 to 18 days of the festival. When that much beer is involved, it helps to have some beer drinking accessories, and what’s better than making them yourself with a 3D printer?
Check out our list of Oktoberfest 3D prints below, but be warned: You aren’t the first to connect 3D printing with Oktoberfest. In 2018 GE was 3D printing metal beer steins alongside the beer vendors, then in 2019, they partnered with the oldest brewing equipment manufacturer in the world to 3D print a metal racking blade to improve the sparging process of beer. We can’t wait to see what innovations future festivals spawn.
Originally organized for the citizens of Munich to celebrate the marriage of their future king, the Bavarian folk festival has been an annual tradition for over 200 years. 2022 marks Oktoberfest’s post-Covid resurgence with over 6 million visitors expected to attend, while millions more will be at Oktoberfest-inspired festivals around the globe.
Whether you’re planning to attend any of these celebrations or just looking to capture the spirit of the event at your next barbecue, we’ve got the perfect list of 3D prints to help make the most of your Oktoberfest. If you’re printing at home, remember to keep food-safety in mind for models that may be in contact with food and drinks – picking the right filament will be as important as picking the right beer.
And if you see your ideal beer accessory but don’t have access to a 3D printer, try a service like Craftcloud!
This combination beer counter and bottle opener is perfect to ensure no one loses count during those long summer days! While it automatically rolls the number up for each bottle it’s used to open, you can also manually roll the counter for your cans.
The original designer recommends printing this using PETG, but comments from other Makers suggest PLA also works though ABS might cause issues. This design does require several small screws and two tiny springs, but those can easily be taken from a ballpoint pen.
Keep the wasps out and the beer to yourself with this lid for your beer glass. Better than repurposing a coaster, this beer lid design is designed to fit around the top of a traditional wheat beer glass and has a latch and hinge to snap the lid open and closed.
The hinge size is easily adjustable to print for whatever size glass you’re drinking from. You can also customize the lettering on top for it to say your name, so there’s no worrying about someone else stealing your round.
Get in the mood before your arrival at Oktoberfest with this fun Bavarian-themed decorative piece. Outside of lederhosen (and this is a 3D printing list after all) you’ll be hard-pressed to think of a more iconic Oktoberfest accessory.
This beer stein was designed to match the dimensions of the Bavarian original but can be easily scaled to fit whatever size printer you’re working with. Supports are recommended for printing the handle, but it should be otherwise straightforward to print.
Coasters can be a fun way to show your personality to your beer hall neighbors while keeping your conscience clear from leaving a ring behind (though those tables have seen worse). An added bonus of this coaster is fitting in with the locals since Bayern is the German name for Bavaria and ingratiating yourself further when they notice the lyrics to the Bavarian anthem printed on the edge of the coaster.
This design can be printed in two layers with any color combination, though why would you want to replace the Bavarian blue and white? It can be printed in standard PLA or pretty much any filament you’d like to try, with 0.3-mm layer height recommended.
Celebrating Oktoberfest somewhere that doesn’t have the traditional beer steins? Or maybe you’re not a beer drinker and don’t want to stand out. This can holder beer mug is the perfect 3D print for both situations and is sure to make many jealous of your Oktoberfest vibes.
Several versions of this design are available, depending on the size of can you want to carry. A low infill (the designer suggests only 7%) is recommended for this mug and it doesn’t need any supports. While you can paint the holder to give it the rustic finish as seen above, there’s always the option of going for wood PLA.
This bottle opener is sure to liven up the party when it shoots your discarded beer cap at another drinker. As long as you keep it all in good fun, this can cause many laughs at an Oktoberfest-inspired party.
This design requires quite the assembly for a functional cap gun, including multiple magnets, screws, an elastic band, and a coin to help open the bottles. The designer strongly urges makers to print the trigger solid and to use PLA rather than PETG.
You know the engineers have arrived at the party when Quidditch beer pong comes out. This fun Harry Potter-inspired version of beer pong comes complete with its own set of rules and a YouTube tutorial. The rest of the beer hall will thank you for thinking to bring along such a good spectator sport!
The 3D printed Quidditch pieces are straightforward to print, with only full cups of water needed to support the bases once printed.
This is another accessory that might not be top of mind for Bavarian beer drinkers but is sure to be a hit with the canned cocktail crowd and backyard Oktoberfest enthusiasts. This can handle keeps hands dry from condensation and drinks safe from sweaty hands heating them up. The handle can also be used as a hanger if there isn’t a table to rest the can on.
Multiple files are available to download for standard-sized cans or tallboys for the handle to easily snap onto. Print these handles on their side and no supports are needed.
The party doesn’t have to end when the beer hall closes. Print this bottle carrier and use it to carry your drinks, whether beer or soft drink, as pictured!
Files are available for two, four, or six bottles. The designer recommends printing with 20% honeycomb infill with a 30° angle, but mentions star and triangular infills also work great.
For the less generous attending an Oktoberfest celebration, this print keeps your beer safe from sip thieves while you’re in the bathroom or occupied elsewhere.
This design prints in place without needing any assembly or supports, and the reserved text on top can be customized to your liking. You’ll need to buy a small padlock to fit the shackle, but your beer is worth it.
