There are many 3D printed planter and vase designs out there – and it’s no surprise that we’ve got a few in use at All3DP. From small cacti that fortunately don’t mind if we get distracted and that don’t need to be watered daily, to small plants that add a green touch and contrast wonderfully with different filament colors and styles, we’ve found plenty of inspiration online.
One of the latest models that caught our attention? The striking Inflated Pot Plant Nr.6 Round by HpInvent.
Why do we love it? Mostly because everyone who sees it squishes it and then looks around like John Travolta, wondering what is going on. The popular reaction is, “Why isn’t this printed in TPU?”, followed by, “When will this be printed in TPU?”.
We followed the print settings suggested by HpInvent for the 120-mm version, and opted for a 0.2-mm layer height and 15% infill, with yellow PLA the filament choice. No supports were necessary, which made it a breeze to print and made post-processing unnecessary.
From the many makes shared, the opaque colors really enhance the cushiness of the designs. While we haven’t come across any transparent filament makes, we can only assume that the look will be distinct because of the infill pattern being seen. That said, maker Eversor shared a printing profile that enables vase mode, which will mean less sturdiness but a unique look.
HpInvent is a very popular designer on MakerWorld, with over 24,000 followers, and there’s no doubt as to why! While they have many unique plant pot designs – from crumbled paper to silk cloth and ripples – other practical ideas include a variety of cell phone holders (we’ve got the Phone Pillow here as well), a Voronoi bowl, and a toothbrush stand. Plus a few adorable models.
To support them and have access to commercial license of their designs, check out the different Patreon memberships that are available. And you can always buy them a coffee if you’re just looking to show your gratitude.
