Ready to deck the halls this festive season? For every Star Wars fan, this 3D printed BB-8 ornament is the perfect decoration for your Christmas tree.
Perhaps the coolest thing about the new film — aside from light saber duels, and X-Wing dogfights, and reuniting with Luke, Han, and Leia – is that the Star Wars universe will be dramatically expanded with new characters and settings.
The biggest new character by far is BB-8, a cute little droid that captured our hearts from the moment he/she/it first appeared in the movie’s first trailers.
The droid is already a hit toy with the Sphero BB-8 edition, and has sold out faster than stores can keep the item in stock.
But why should you have to scrum in a supermarket just to participate in all the fun? Instead, consider 3D printing your very own BB-8 droid as a Christmas decoration.
Designer Martin Hajek, aka The Cad Builder, has created a little BB-8 Christmas ornament that anyone can 3D print for themselves.
As you can see in the pictures, the ornament is printed in two separate pieces. You can either fabricate it using gold filament, or you can post-process it with a can of gold spray-paint. Finally, just thread the loop with a red ribbon and it’s ready to grace your Christmas tree.
The digital files you need to 3D print your own BB-8 Christmas ornament are on sale for $10 dollars.
If you don’t have access to a 3D printer of your own, then consider uploading the files to the ALL3DP price comparison engine, where you can choose from several 3D printing services to get the best price and best range of materials.
