Historically speaking, many prequels don’t live up to their hype. So we’re holding our breath for Minions, the third movie in the Despicable Me franchise. Released in theaters on 10th July, early reviews have been positive, so we’re cautiously optimistic. If you or your kids are Minion fans, you’ll love this 3D printed Minions project from Shiuan published on Thingiverse.
Davidson3d’s Linklings design inspired the Despicable me version of ‘Minions Linking’. Designed with a Meshmixer and 3D printed to perfection, these little characters were painted with nail polish to give them authenticity. Shiuan explains the process of creating the minions on her website, which is in Chinese. It’s very photo heavy, so you see how much work went into making each linking Minion unique and memorable.
Follow along as Kevin, Stuart, and Bob travel through the ages in search of a new evil boss to serve. Feel their disappointment as they fail to impress T-Rex and Napoleon and their excitement when they meet Scarlet Overkill, a female villain played by Sandra Bullock. Rated PG, the feature film stars Michael Keaton, Steve Coogan, Allison Janney, and Jon Hamm.
Linking 3D printed minions make great gifts. If you don’t have access to a 3D printer, you can also use a 3D printing service to create these toys on your behalf. It puts a smile on the face of any collector, and gets them even more excited about the upcoming Minions movie.
Besides, who can resist the awesome expressions of each little minion face? We certainly can’t, which is precisely why we shared the design with you.
