Yes, Super Mario Bros. is Nintendo’s most successful video game series. Since Donkey Kong, it “raised” three generations of gamers and introduced kids to some seriously enjoyable platform games.

Some building blocks in the Mario Universe are quite persistent – and the warp pipes are good example of that. The green pipes serve as obstacles or barriers. They are one of the most iconic elements in the game, and everyone who has ever played the game can recall them. Sometimes they are populated with carnivorous plants, which raise to kill Mario.

Super Mario fan and Redditor Jason Kirk created a “pixelized” model that resembles the pipe, but can actually serve as a real pot for a real carnivorous plant (Venus Fly Trap) in the same fashion with the game. The model was designed in MODO901 and was printed on a Printbot 3D printer in just about five hours. (via 3dprint.com)

The result is a nostalgia-inducing beautiful and perfectly functional pot plant that will lighten up your window sill. The creator has just announced the project in Reddit.

Unfortunately he hasn’t published his models yet for home printing. We’ll keep you updated.

If and when they will be released it might be an opportunity for games to plant a flower to honor Nintendo’s beloved late president, Satoru Iwata. (via mirror.co.uk)
