Prusa Research has announced a new Printables design contest with Cooler Master, hosted in celebration of the new Cooler Master Qube 500 flat-packed PC case. First prize? A Qube 500 Macaron flat-packed PC case and an Original Prusa MK4 kit.
The Qube 500 features a “modular hole pattern” designed to support various (3D printed) accessories, such as brackets for gaming controllers and other peripherals. As such, the contest asks that entrants design their own 3D-printable accessories for the Qube 500, making use of a design guide provided by Cooler Master, a template STEP file of the case, and other template models all available for download on Cooler Master’s Printables page.
Entries will be predominantly judged on printability, originality, and popularity on Printables, although designs with easy assembly, high-quality photos, and that allow other users to “remix” them will be looked upon favorably. In the case that Prusa can’t decide between two designs, designers’ past work on Printables will be used as a tie-breaker.
First prize, as mentioned, is a Prusa MK4 kit and a Cooler Master Qube 500 case in the “macaron” colorway. Second place takes home the Qube 500 Macaron, a GEM, and 350 Prusameters; while third place receives a black and white Qube 500, a GEM, and 350 Prusameters. Fourth and fifth place, as well as five honorary mentions, will receive varying amounts of Prusameters.
The contest runs from September 22 to October 15, with entrants able to submit up to five designs each. For the full write-up, plus terms and conditions, check out Prusa’s contest announcement.
