The 9th AM Forum Berlin, the Berlin-based conference and trade expo, continues to grow in importance as one of Europe’s main events for EU-based additive manufacturing. Germany is the world’s third largest manufacturer of industrial AM systems (after the US and China), and a market leader in metal AM.

Scheduled for March 17-18, 2025, in Berlin, the event will host nearly 800 participants and stage an expo feature more than 75 exhibitors.

This year’s conference theme is “Boosting AM applications in industrial production” and will feature about 100 speakers from across the EU. Conference session topics range from case studies to R&D programs to defense applications and dozens of topics in between. Presenters include Stefanus Bosch, head of AM at BMW Group; Stefanie Brickwede, head of AM at Deutsche Bahn; Marc Schoemann, CTO of 3D printed shoe platform Zellerfeld; and Oskar Viklund, AM business development manager at SAAB Group.

Exhibitors include not only German 3D printer manufacturers but companies from across the EU, plus the US and China, including BLT, Trumpf, Ranishaw, Siemens, and Kurtz Ersa.

One of the really fun parts of AM Forum Berlin are the excursions to Berlin-based AM industry leaders. This year, there’s a tour of large-scale metal 3D printer maker Gefertec; a tour of inkjet 3D printer maker start-up Quantica; a presentation at the German Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing; and a group tour of the BMW motorcycle plant’s Rapid Prototyping Center.

The venue of the AM Forum Berlin is always a hit with attendees. The Estrel hotel and conference center has enough space to accommodate all attendees plus the expo and special events.

This year there’s an optional Pre-Event Reception (only for Premium and All Access ticket holders) on March 16, where you can meet other AM users and experts. All Access ticket holders can also attend the slate of workshops, including “Applying AM to the Factory Floor” with Christoph Voelcker, teamleader 3D printing at Würth Electronik Group, and “F**-up Session, Personal Discussions on AM Failures”. There are also deep dives sponsored by EOS and HP.
