Ahead of its upcoming May 15 release date, Anycubic has been sharing details for the new Kobra 3 V2.

There’s pressure on Anycubic to get it right this time, as the original Kobra 3 felt rushed, underperformed, and disappointed a lot of its users. Anycubic says it’s been listening to the feedback of users of the Kobra 3, and that the V2 should be the solution to the points they raised. In short, this time it should be good from the get-go.

Anycubic tells us particular attention has been paid to performance and stability this time, so there’s hope that the hair-pullingly frustrating inconsistency we experienced with the Kobra 3 will be remedied.

Leaky hotends were a menace for early adopters last time. Anycubic says the V2 now features the same nozzle system as the one on the Kobra S1, and promises significantly reduced leakage and enhanced extrusion reliability.

Perhaps the biggest disappointment of the Kobra 3 was the advertised but never delivered 8-color filament flexibility. Anycubic said it would produce an official converter to allow for that possibility, but in the end, relied on a temporary community-developed solution: an “unofficial DIY tool” to be used at the user’s own risk.

What’s new on the Kobra 3 V2?

As of May 2025, the promised converter still hasn’t arrived, and the V2’s imminent launch comes with Anycubic’s guarantee of 8-color printing being available out of the box this time. Watch this space.

Elsewhere, there’s a new factory-installed 720p camera for print monitoring, a firmware-enabled increase to the build volume (up to 255 × 255 × 260 from 250 x 250 x 260 mm), upgraded X-axis bearings, and a wider Y-axis base for improved bed stability.

Price-wise, we don’t yet have a number. Starting May 15, Anycubic will begin a presale campaign with four steps up to June 16 in a scheme that looks exactly like something you might see on a Kickstarter – “early bird” wording, et al.

The V2 needs to hit the ground running and right the Kobra 3’s wrongs. Let’s hope it’s second time lucky for Anycubic.
