Anycubic has revealed another entry to its lineup of resin 3D printers. The Anycubic Photon Mono 2 – which is aimed at “beginners” – serves as a follow-up to last year’s Photon Mono 4K and appears to improve on its predecessor in several notable ways, such as a 20% larger print volume of 165 x 143 x 89 mm. There’s also a slightly larger, 6.6-inch, 4K (4,098 x 2,560 resolution, to be exact) monochrome LCD screen with an XY resolution of 35 microns.
The Photon Mono 2 also features an upgraded LighTurbo matrix – the company’s proprietary light source – that aims for more than 90% light uniformity, plus a reduction in layer and grid lines. Anycubic says this will result in prints with smoother surfaces and higher levels of detail. A laser-engraved build plate, meanwhile, ostensibly improves model adhesion, thus increasing the overall print success rates. Additionally, Anycubic claims print speeds of up to 50 mm/hour.
On the software side, the Photon Mono 2 will ship with the latest version of Anycubic’s slicer, Photon Workshop. Its version 3.0 is said to feature a “more straightforward” slicing process and a UI that is “easier to operate.”
Full specs are currently being drip-fed out on Anycubic’s social media channels. No word on pricing yet, although the Photon Mono 4K carries an MSRP of $289, so we’re expecting somewhere in that neighborhood.
