Bambu Lab has finally revealed the product it cryptically teased at the beginning of this month. Behind the curtain is the Bambu Lab A1 mini, a budget machine compatible with the new AMS lite, a cheaper, scaled-down version of the OEM’s regular AMS.
The A1 mini arrives fully assembled, with a 180 x 180 x 180 mm build volume, an IPS touchscreen, and a quick-swap hotend. Bambu Lab says the machine can reach up to 500mm/s print speed with an acceleration of 10,000 mm/s².
It also features automatic Z-offset, bed leveling, and X and Y-axis vibration calibration, with a nozzle pressure sensor automatically calibrating “flow dynamics” before every print, which Bambu Lab says is similar to pressure advance. Additionally, active motor noise cancellation works to reduce motor movement noise. Rounding things out here is what Bambu Labs calls an “advanced filament monitoring system” that detects filament runout, spool tangles, and extruder slips.
Speaking of filament, when used in conjunction with the AMS lite – which differs from its predecessor in featuring “fewer parts” and an uncovered design – the A1 mini can utilize four colors or materials during printing.
The A1 mini and AMS lite are now up for preorder on Bambu Lab’s webstore, where you can also find full specs and technical information about both products. Bambu Lab says shipping will begin in mid-October. A combo package of the A1 mini and AMS lite is priced at $459, although they can also be purchased separately at $299 and $249, respectively.
