Bambu Lab has refined its Relief Sculpture Maker on MakerWorld, with improvements that move the tool from “experimental” to “official” status.
True to its name, the Relief Sculpture Maker tool can turn a 2D image into a 3D representation that resembles a relief sculpture. The latest improvements leverage an “upgraded algorithm” that works to produce sharper, smoother, and deeper results.
In terms of image selection, Bambu Lab recommends using grayscale pictures with clear, bold outlines that already show a bit of depth. For filament, materials that mimic the effects of “stone, plaster, metal, or wood” will work best.
We tried out the tool using one of Bambu Lab’s sample images, and were able to choose between double- or single-sided and a square or circle relief. Our result (a panda-emblazoned coin) took under 30 seconds to generate.
You can check out the Relief Sculpture Maker for yourself on MakerWorld – all you need is a free account.
