If you want to learn about every aspect of 3D printing, from industrial product design to transforming a company’s entire value chain, you may be interested in a new Masters program at CIM UPC.

CIM UPC is the technological center of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya aka BarcelonaTech. It’s also where, just a few years ago, 3D printer manufacturer BCN3D Technologies was born. Perhaps after joining its new Masters program, you’ll be the next success story.

The Master in Design and Engineering for Additive Manufacturing prepares “professionals for the paradigm shift of Industry 4.0 that we are living.” To do this, the training focuses on 3D printing applications and consequences of the technology on the industrial value chain.

Felip Fenollosa, general director of the CIM UPC, said: “…we have taken a step forward for the formative leadership in Additive Manufacturing, integrating the relevant actors in this ecosystem to contribute their experience to prepare the next generations of professionals for the transformation of our industry. We seek that in a global environment any Design can be sent anywhere in the world and manufactured at the same point of sale.”

Would You Study 3D Printing in Spain?

Real cases form an important part of the course and students will have access to different level facilities. They will have access to equipment such as Ricoh AM S5500P, 3D Systems SLA 7000, Vanguard HS, HP MultiJet, Fusion, Renishaw AM-250, a BCN3D Sigma and Sigmax farm, hand-held 3DScanner and Mitutoyo CMM.

The course focuses on technology use in three levels including product design, improving the production process and manufacturing the final product advantages.

Currently, the training is aimed at those working in industrial companies. However, it doesn’t matter what the magnitude of the company is. This course aims to re-educate the engineer and help them apply 3D printing in all of the company’s processes.

However, as well as this, learning will focus on other fields where 3D printing can make a big difference. For example, construction, medicine, and food.

Find out more about the Master by visiting the CIM UPC website. The course will run for 450 hours from October 2018 to July 2019,
