BASF New Business, the innovation-focused branch of the world’s largest chemical producer, has formally agreed to acquire Sculpteo, one of the leading online 3D printing service providers. The deal will become effective after pending regulatory approval.
Details of the deal have not yet been disclosed.
BASF, which recently rebranded its 3D printing subsidiary to Forward AM, now has a new key player for establishing its industrial 3D printing materials. “Through the acquisition of Sculpteo, we can provide customers and partners with even faster access to our innovative 3D printing solutions. In addition, our customers will benefit from an extended range of services”, says Dr. Dietmar Bender, Managing Director BASF 3D Printing Solutions.
The management staff at Sculpteo will stay, as will the business’ locations in Paris and San Francisco. “We are excited to join the BASF team and thus benefit from BASF’s outstanding R&D to provide our customers with innovative solutions”, says Clément Moreau, who will stay with Sculpteo as CEO.
As of today, Sculpteo’s online service offers access to a swathe of 3D printing technologies using more than 75 materials and finishing options.
