BigTreeTech (BTT) is expanding its range of Bambu Lab-compatible accessories yet again, with the Panda Knomi and Panda Shelter joining the regularly-growing list of popular add-ons. They join the likes of the CryoGrip low-temperature build plate, Panda PWR “smart” power brick, and Panda Claw hardened extruder gears, among others.

The Panda Knomi will be familiar to Voron-operating fans of BTT, as the product has existed as an addon for Voron Stealthburner-style printheads for some time. Priced at $49.99 for the full display and case set, the Panda Knomi is, basically, a 1.28-inch, 240 x 240 pixel display with ESP WiFi module that mounts to the front of your printer’s printhead. The Knomi displays a set of animations corresponding to the printer’s actions, giving you an at-a-glance update of what’s working (or not working) at any given moment.

Better still, the Knomi can be customized with both your own GIF animations, and a custom printed case. BTT has released the necessary files for this on GitHub.

The Panda Knomi brings this fully customizable fun to Bambu Lab’s A-, P- and X-series devices, with a near-drop in installation that places most of the setup work in the web-based configuration, rather than any real effort of mounting it to the printer.

It’s important to note that the Panda Knomi uses the printers’ AMS bus port for power and data. To retain use of your AMS or AMS Lite, you’ll need the Panda Branch expansion board, which offers additional ports for just such a situation as running an AMS and playing silly goofy GIFs on your printhead.

In an email to All3DP ahead of the launch, BigTreeTech confirmed that the Knomi is not affected by Bambu Lab’s upcoming firmware and security changes, assuring us that the Knomi’s functionality is dependent only on reading from Bambu Lab’s network, not control.

Also launching today is the Panda Shelter, a product BTT described as a “thermal insulation cover that protects your prints from excessive cooling.” Priced at $94.99, the shelter shrouds your printer and build plate, shielding it from potentially print-ruining drafts. Made from flame-retardant material, this soft enclosure includes an integrated filtered ventilation fan to regulate the chamber temperature, thus preventing the printer from overheating, says BTT.

The Panda Knomi and Panda Shelter are available today, via the BigTreeTech webstore.
