BigTreeTech (BTT) will release several mods for Bambu Lab 3D printers that together form the “Panda Series”.

Most recently announced is the Panda Touch, a five-inch touchscreen that uses a USB-C connection and a mounting bracket to “seamlessly” connect to P1 series machines for power, while receiving data over the network. Other Bambu Lab printers, such as the X1 and A1 series’, can’t power the Panda Touch, which will instead require a USB power supply of its own. However, up to ten of the printers and four AMS can connect wirelessly for multi-printer control.

The Panda Touch also features a magnetic assembly and a built-in battery that boasts 30 minutes of life. This means users can remove the touchscreen from the printer and temporarily use it remotely. The mod will be released on January 18, when BTT will also reveal its price which has so far only been hinted as “less than $100”. Though BTT has said that participants in its launch livestream can snag a unit for “as low as $29.99”, whether this is the MRSP is unclear.

Another entry to the Panda Series is the Panda Revo hot end designed for Bambu Lab P1 and X1 series printers. The component is a BTT-E3D collaboration that was announced at East Coast RepRap Fest in September. It features a 0.4 mm Revo HF nozzle, a 60 W high power heater core, and is fully compatible with the RapidChange Revo ecosystem. The Panda Revo comes in four versions, all of which are currently up for preorder at $129 on BTT’s website.

The products should be welcome additions in a slew of recently revealed third-party mods coming to Bambu Lab’s machines, including the open-source X1Plus firmware and E3D Bambu Lab ObXidian hot end – the latter of which prompted a statement about third-party mods from Bambu Lab.

“We understand that the strength of a single company is limited,” the OEM said, “Partners with innovation and quality products will enhance the ecosystem and fulfill our customers’ various demands, which cannot be addressed by Bambu Lab alone.”

Other upcoming entries to the Panda Series include an LED upgrade kit called the Panda Lux, a “protective leather wrap” called the Panda Fur, and the Panda nPEI Build Plate.

There are currently no details regarding these mods’ availability or prices, but those interested can sign up for updates on the Panda Series section of BigTreeTech’s website.

Update & Correction – January 17, 2023: BigTreeTech has announced the Panda Touch release date. We also updated and expanded on how the device interacts with Bambu Lab printers. The previous version may have incorrectly suggested the Panda Touch is exclusively compatible with Bambu Lab's P1 Series and transfers data over its USB-C correction.
