A popular YouTube video has led Bondtech to launch a new and improved main gear for several of its products. The release comes in the wake of a video by MirageC that highlighted how Bondtech’s original main gear on the main shaft assembly “suffered from a significant run-out, resulting in a noticeable wobbling during rotation” that affected print quality. The video has amassed more than 250,000 views since it was posted to YouTube three months ago.

Working with MirageC and other members of the 3D printing community, Bondtech developed a redesigned gear made of white technical thermoplastic – and boasts an improved assembly process to reduce run-out and improve manufacturing tolerances.

The improved main gear is sold in various ways on Bondtech’s website: as part of its main shaft assembly, integrated drive gear assembly, and reverse integrated drive gear assembly, as well as within extruders for several popular 3D printers, and all Prusa and Creality upgrade kits.
