CBD-Tech, developers of the popular ChiTuBox slicer software, has announced the forthcoming release of the Resin Material Alliance (RMA) – what it calls a “game changer in the resin 3D printing industry”.
The RMA is an “intelligent resin library” that aims to elevate the ChiTuBox software to a platform on which users can pre-process, slice, and print with a variety of pre-configured material profiles, each of which will be tested by CBD-Tech to ensure a higher possibility of print success.
In addition to profiles, the RMA will house information regarding resin type, material properties and compatibility, and post-processing guides. So far, more than 19 brands have joined, providing more than 1200 material profiles for more than 120 varieties of resin.
Once released, users can access the RMA via ChiTuBox 2.0, then use the library to search for and sync material profiles to their software. Additionally, users will be able to create and share their own profiles via the RMA webpage, as well as access a Discord and Facebook page to discuss all things resin.
As of now, it’s unclear when the RMA will officially release. ChiTuBox Basic is currently on version 1.9.5, so it stands to reason that the next release will be the aforementioned version 2.0. However, ChiTuBox Pro, the paid version of ChiTuBox, currently sits at V 1.4.0. Could the RMA really be a non-Pro feature? For now, we’ll just have to wait and see.
Until then, ChiTuBox has released a lengthy blog post detailing the RMA. It’s admittedly a bit hard to decipher, with strange word choices and all-around vagaries, but it’s nonetheless worth a read.
