Notable Creality reseller, Comgrow, has revealed its first 3D printer, a large-scale FDM machine with an industrially tinged name: the T500.
The Klipper-based 3D printer, which boasts a 500 x 500 x 500 mm build volume, is not only large, Comgrow says, it’s fast – capable of reaching “regular printing speeds” of 200 mm/s. It seems to be built with relatively heavy-duty applications in mind (at least as far as desktop FDM goes), with a dual-gear, full-metal direct drive extruder, four-part cooling fans, “high-current” stepper motors, linear rails for all axes, and a full-metal hotend that can support temperatures as high as 300 ℃. The T500 also arrives with a seven-inch touchscreen and 0.4, 0.6, and 0.8 mm nozzles.
At first glance, the T500 looks similar to Creality’s CR-M4 “quasi-industrial” 3D printer, especially in terms of its build volume, linear rails, and high-temperature hotend. This isn’t hugely surprising; Comgrow owns creality3dofficial.com, which served as Creality’s official reseller before Creality introduced its own online store, and was Creality’s servicing agent for a long time – so it tracks that the OEMs’ machines would resemble one another.
In testing the CR-M4, we found it to boast some worthy hardware, but a firmware error rendered our unit DOA. Even after a supposed fix, we weren’t able to get it printing. All3DP has already begun testing the T500 and the results are promising.
Comgrow isn’t revealing the T-500’s price just yet, planning to reveal it during a September 5th livestream, but the company has told All3DP that it will be under $1,000. After the livestream, the machine will presumably be available for purchase or preorder on the Comgrow T500 product page, although that, like the T500’s eventual performance, remains to be seen.
