It’s easy to understand why the 3D printer market is popular. The high demand for personal protective equipment has further highlighted the significance and opportunities for additive manufacturing. Furthermore, 3D printing has improved cost efficiency and simplified processes through rapid local manufacturing as opposed to traditional supply chain channels.
As one of the fastest growing industries, 3D printing is expected to grow by 26% within the next four years.
Since its humble beginnings in Hungary in 2014, Craftbot (formerly CraftUnique) has earned a first-class reputation for their manufacturing reliability and easy-to-use desktop 3D printer systems. With more than 60 sales partners worldwide, Craftbot offers a complete 3D printing solution through its hardware, accessories, software, filament, and support services.
Following the co-founders dissatisfaction with desktop 3D printers available in 2014 due to their small printing size capabilities – and being software and hardware developers themselves – they set out to create a 3D printer that would be both easy to use and have the capabilities of a professional system. After three prototypes, the first Craftbot printer was born!
The key driver of Craftbot’s success in developing user-friendly, reliable printers is listening and innovating based on customer feedback to continuously improve the value offering. Craftbot’s innovative and entrepreneurial DNA has earned a spot among the top 3D printer manufacturers in the world.
Their Craftbot Plus was awarded by 3D Hubs as the Best Plug N’ Play 3D Printer consecutively for 2016, 2017, and 2018, and to the creation of one of the largest build volume Plug’n’Play printers, the Flow Generation IDEX XL. To date, the company has developed over ten 3D printers and has sold more than 10,000 units worldwide.
On its recent five-year anniversary, Craftbot welcomed two large European financial investors; Solus Capital Kockázati Tőkealap-kezelő Kft and MIELL Quality Kft, whose combined total investment of $3.3 million will support the company’s continued growth. This is the largest capital increase in Craftbot’s history, demonstrating its proven track record while enhancing its leadership position as a global manufacturer and innovator in the additive manufacturing industry. Being well positioned with its state-of-the-art product line-up at competitive prices, Craftbot has experienced exponential growth with more robust plans for future innovation.
When roughly half of new businesses cease operation within their first five years statistically-speaking, this underscores the success that Craftbot has been able to achieve within this milestone anniversary.
“Since our launch, we are proud of the growth path we have taken to get to this milestone,” said Csaba Mákos, managing director, Craftbot. “We are looking forward to the next five years and beyond to strengthen our leadership position in the 3D printer industry.”
Looking ahead, the team at Craftbot is planning to further innovate their portfolio. A couple of items they are planning include maximizing firmware to allow for adaptability for the continuously changing environment, and ways to enhance the remote connectivity features of the system. Furthermore, feedback from makers, industrial users from the medical and educational sectors has shown interest in offering more complex and personalized solutions.
Beyond system improvements, the company continues to expand throughout North America with strategic partners and resellers, with focused growth on emerging markets, such as Australia, Africa, and the Middle East.
Given their quick success, the recent capital investments, the experienced in-house design team and award-winning products, Craftbot is looking to continue making positive impact to take traditional 3D printing market to a new dimension.
