Creality has launched the K1 SE 3D printer, a CoreXY machine the company has told All3DP is “almost the K1C without the walls”, and will be $200 cheaper.
Both machines, for example, share a build volume of 220 x 220 x 250 mm, and can achieve the same claimed top speeds of 600 mm/s and acceleration of 20,000 mm/s². They also use the same extruder with a side spring and ball plunger to prevent clogs and a tri-metal nozzle.
True to Creality’s description, the major difference seems to be the lack of a full enclosure: the K1 SE arrives with just a metal die-cast frame. Additionally, and instead of the K1C’s three-fan cooling system, the K1 SE boasts a single, “dynamically balanced” fan.
There doesn’t appear to be as many bells and whistles as the K1C, either – take the K1 SE’s lack of a built-in, AI-enabled camera – although it does have features like input shaping, auto Z offset, and auto leveling by way of an auto-calibration function.
Perhaps obviously, the K1 SE is cheaper than its more robust sibling. It’s priced at $359 (the K1C’s carries a $559 MSRP) and will be available toward the end of this month, August 2024.
The K1 SE product page is currently live on Creality’s website. While you can’t yet place an order, you can sign up for an availability notification for when it goes live, as well as check out full specs for a deeper dive into the K1 SE’s and K1C’s differences.
