Elegoo has announced the imminent release of two additions to its Neptune 4 series of 3D printers: the Neptune 4 Plus and the Neptune 4 Max.
The Klipper-based machines predominantly differ in size. The Neptune 4 Plus has a build volume of 320 x 320 x 385 mm, with the Neptune 4 Max coming in at 420 x 420 x 480 mm. Other than that – and save for a few (relatively) minor differences – the machines are very similar.
Both printers, for example, can hit claimed top speeds of 500 mm/s (although diverge in acceleration, with the Plus reaching up to 12,000 mm/s² versus the Max’s 8,000 mm/s²). They also arrive with 4.3-inch touchscreens, dual-gear direct extruders, magnetic PEI build plates, and “high-temperature” nozzles rated to 300 °C. Users can connect to them via Wi-Fi, USB, or LAN. Elegoo has spotlighted the printers’ cooling systems, which incorporate several fans in the print heads as well as what appears to be auxiliary fans that ride the Z-axis.
Rounding things out are features that work to boost printing ease, quality, and accuracy. These include 121-point automatic bed leveling, input shaping, pressure advance, and “acceleration sensors” on the X and Y axes for automatic resonance compensation.
In all, the Neptune 4 Plus and Max seem to be ever-so-slightly upgraded versions of the Neptune 4 Pro, which, at $299, is cheaper, smaller, and has no Wi-Fi connectivity.
The presale for the Neptune 4 Plus and Max begins tomorrow, September 23, at 2 pm UTC. The Neptune 4 Plus will run you $350, with the Neptune 4 Max starting at $470. For full specs and a helpful comparison chart – and, of course, to place an order when the time comes – check out each printer’s product page on Elegoo’s website.
