A new integration with Fusion's "machine library" allows users to prepare and sliceparts in the CAD software, then export directly as a .GOO file.

Thanks to a collaboration between Elegoo and Autodesk, owners of Elegoo’s Mars and Saturn series of resin 3D printers can now easily print prep in Fusion using the CAD software’s “machine library”.

The announcement is a subtle one indeed, with a quick paragraph-long mention in Autodesk’s September 2024 product update, and some more details from Sualp Ozel, a senior product manager at Autodesk, via LinkedIn.

To use your machine with Fusion, you’ll need to download both the machine files and print settings for your Mars or Saturn printer. Once that’s done, you’ll be able to arrange and orient parts, generate supports, and slice and export print files in .GOO format.

That’s really all there is to it – an unassuming yet undeniably convenient update for Fusion and Elegoo users, who no longer need to move their work to a separate slicing software before printing.
