Elegoo has launched a new entry to is Saturn lineup of 3D printers: the Saturn 4 Ultra 16K 3D printer.
The 211.68 x 118.37 x 220 x mm build volume machine boasts a full-metal body and flip-top enclosure, and utilizes Elegoo’s “tilt release technology” – which is seemingly becoming a mainstay on many of its higher-end devices – to speed up printing and boost print quality. Elegoo says it can achieve an XY resolution of 14 x 19 μm.
Besides resolution, the main step up here from the Saturn 4 Ultra 12K printer – the 16K’s predecessor – looks to be the heated vat and Wi-Fi connectivity. That said, there’s still a lot to take in, feature-wise.
Auto leveling, real-time temperature sensors, fast and slow print modes, a mechanical sensor alarm that alerts users to print-related errors (inadequate resin levels and foreign object detection, for instance) – many of, if not all, the bells and whistles you’d want in a printer seem to be here. Coupled with a range of device-care functions like high-temperature protection and power-loss recovery, and we’re looking at a device that appears to offer very high quality of life, usage-wise.
Users control the machine with a vertical touchscreen that features a new UI. Meanwhile, a built-in AI camera allows for time-lapse photography, print detection and monitoring.
We’re skeptical the increase in resolution from 12K to 16K will be noticeable, though; resolutions see steep diminishing returns at higher levels in most applications.
The Saturn 4 Ultra 16K is available now for $519.99.
