If your computer has been struggling to run popular 3D modeling software like Blender, Womp, a brand-new browser-based software set on bringing 3D modeling to everyone regardless of skill level or hardware, might be for you.

Womp’s “beginner-friendly” approach to 3D modeling relies heavily on a bright, crisp, streamlined UI that veers away from the complex interfaces and steep learning curves you’ll often find on other popular modeling software.

With Womp, users can create, melt, blend, and deform live-rendered 3D models, which are easily editable with “liquid 3D” – a Signed Distance Field (SDF) modeler that stores information on a 3D grid rather than with the polygons, edges, and vertices used by polygon modelers.

Because it runs on the cloud – leveraging “pixel streaming,” in which a remote computer renders and streams to a user’s machine – top-of-the-line hardware isn’t a requirement. In fact, “if it can run Netflix, it can run Womp,” a press release reads.  Designs are exportable for use in 3D printing, animation, games, AR/VR, and more.

Womp is currently in its alpha and can be used entirely for free. As of now, there are no indications of what monetization plans may entail. To try it for yourself or learn more, visit Womp’s website.
