After unveiling its BIOprinter at the recent Formnext in Frankfurt, the manufacturer has announced that the FELIX BIOprinter is now commercially available, and pre-orders are already being processed.
Wilgo Feliksdal, Co-Founder of FELIXprinters, says, “The BIOprinter has been designed to be the ultimate bioresearch instrument in a cost-effective package. It has been developed alongside the brightest minds in the bioprinting sector.”
Partnering with the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and Training4CRM, and receiving funding from the European Union Horizon 2020 Programme, the company developed the BIOprinter.
Feliksdal further states: “Uniquely, the BIOprinter combines dual sterilizable printheads which have a modular design for easy changeovers, and separate heads are available to print different bio-inks at the same time. This integrates different material properties into a single scaffold structure.”
In addition, the BIOprinter source control system allows the user to use standard slicing software, and non-proprietary auxiliaries, such as standard syringes or Petri dishes, can be used.
With the printer’s strong motors that allow it to extrude different viscosity of materials, the printer is aimed at a wide range of bioprinting applications.
