Pantone, best known for its professional color standards, partnered with FiberForce, an Italian filament supplier, to launch the world’s first 3D printing filament line based on the Pantone Matching System (PMS).
“We are excited to release the first 3D filament simulating approved PMS color identities and to bring globally recognized Pantone Colors into the 3D printing world,” said Francesco Berton, the CEO of FiberForce Italy, in a press release.
“Our 3D filaments are commonly known for excellence in quality, and from this day forward we can add another concrete support to 3D printing market, where the importance of colors is a key point.”
The range of filaments is already available for purchase. You can choose from nylon grade filament, ABS, PLA, TPU and composites. There are multiple color options available for every material and you can even order a customized color for your filament.
What are the Benefits of PMS Materials?
“Leveraging approved Pantone Colors within the 3D printing process enables users to maximize the power of color and visualize samples that truly realize their design intent through easy-to-print filaments,” said Adrián Fernández, Vice President and General Manager of Pantone.
The colored filaments will be useful in industry and for designers, especially for creating prototypes, said the companies in the press release.
Along with meeting expanding industry requirements, the filaments will be suitable for product design in home, apparel, fashion, architecture, and accessories.
