Fiberpunk is back with a new version of its Node Wi-Fi device: the Node Max

The Node Max is an ESP-32-based board with an OLED display that improves on its predecessors, the Node and Node Pro, by upping printer compatibility and offering a few new features that better lend themselves to efficiency and usability.

While the Node and Node Pro arrived in printer-specific versions – such as those for Ender-series printers – the Node Max relies on an “optimized” SD card connector to improve stability and reliability “across a wider range of 3D printers.” That, along with “carefully optimized” firmware for Anycubic Kobra and Elegoo Neptune series printers, compatibility with Creality’s Ender series, and an open-source design, enables users to fine-tune the Node Max to their preference of hardware – and potentially other types of equipment, “like CNC machines”. It’s important to note, however, that the Node Max is not compatible with BigTreeTech’s SKR Mini series of motherboards, with Fiberpunk asking anyone interested in using the two together to get in touch before placing an order.

The Node Max also features an improved (i.e., wider) data cable that works to reduce printing errors via better SD card communication, two new front-mounted buttons for adjusting settings, and AP mode support, for easier Wi-Fi network configuration. Setup, too, is simple, with a quick-start guide available on the Node Max’s product page that walks users through the process.

Once connected, users can send Cura and PrusaSlicer files directly to their 3D printers via the Node Max. A set of I/O ports, meanwhile, widens the device’s functionality – by connecting Fiberpunk’s soon-to-be-released filament sensor, for example. Local fleet management, Fiberpunk says, is also possible by way of the Node Max, with no need for a cloud server.

For the full write-up, check out Fiberpunk’s blog post – or if you’ve heard enough, visit the Node Max’s product page to pick it up for $33.99.
