Explicitly designed for Original Prusa MK3S+ 3D printers, Urbanmaker’s Jobox (pronounced “job ox”) is an “easy to install add-on” that automatically changes spring sheets, resulting in “semi-continuous 3D printing” that requires next to no user input.
Up to eight magnetic Jobox Spring Steel Sheets “can be operated simultaneously in the magazine in a process-safe manner.” The process generally goes as follows: spring steel sheets are loaded in a magazine and pulled through to the 3D printer for independent print jobs. Once a print is complete, the bed sheets eject onto an extended “clearance unit” for collection.
“This allows long periods of operator absence or the creation of long administration-free periods for short, fast print jobs,” according to the campaign’s page.
Through the use of “retrofittable adapters,” the Jobox is also compatible with Original Prusa Spring Steel Sheets. While existing systems offer similar capabilities – the 3DQue Quinly comes to mind – the Jobox nevertheless holds our interest, especially with claims of easy, 45-minute assembly and 10-minute setup.
At the time of this writing, nearly €23,000 (~$23,355) has been pledged toward the Jobox’s €2,500 (~$2,538) goal. Early bird adopters who commit €249 (~$253) or more are promised the “Early Bird Jobox Maker Bundle,” which includes Jobox hardware, three Jobox Spring Steel Sheets, and two retrofit adapters for Prusa sheets. The estimated delivery is February 2023.
