Kexelled, a specialty filament maker, just introduced a way for you to cut down on plastic waste at your company: reusable filament spools and bulk filament.
Kexelled develops engineering-grade polymer materials tailored for additive manufacturing applications in automotive, aerospace, dentistry, medical, and manufacturing among others.
“As a 3D printing manufacturer, we frequently receive questions from users regarding what to do with their plastic filament spools,” the company says. “While we always encourage our customers to send them back to us, we understand that this is not a viable option for most of them. However, it is disheartening to learn that according to recent surveys, two-thirds of plastic filament spools are not being reused or recycled.”
Kexcelled’s new reusable filament spool eliminates the need for plastic disposable spools and plastic- or paper-based recyclable spools. Your replacement filament comes with no spool at all, just a small cardboard cylinder. The reusable spool is compatible with all FDM printers, the company says.
At Rapid + TCT booth 2261, Kexcelled will no doubt be showing off its speciality materials ranging from nine types of TPU filament, five types of PEEK filament, two Ultem filament options, and a range of professional and dental resins.
