Without fanfare – and following rather quiet showcases at the last two Rocky Mountain RepRap Festivals – LulzBot has released the Lulzbot Mini 3.

The FDM printer is a Klipper-based machine with a build volume of 180 x 180 x 180 mm and a claimed maximum speed of 500 mm/s. It boasts a “redesigned” UI that users can navigate via touchscreen, and offers Wi-Fi connectivity.

LulzBot says the Mini 3 builds upon its predecessors with “upgraded hardware and advanced calibration algorithms”. This seemingly refers to features such as the Mini 3’s linear rails on the X, Y, and Z axes, and filament runout and stripping detection sensors – plus the fact that the Mini 3 runs on Klipper, rather than Marlin, like the Mini 2.

The Mini 3 also arrives with automatic bed leveling and standard Klipper features such as “intelligent” X-axis tramming, Z-offset, and input shaping – though tramming and Z-offset features were also present on the Mini 2. Users can purchase an optional enclosure, which has space to mount an exhaust fan or filter (although neither are included) for $245.

In all, the Mini 3 looks to be a relatively no-frills machine that LulzBot says is well-suited to “workspaces, classrooms, or home offices”. It’s currently available on the OEM’s website for $1,695. Lulzbot says purchases made by the end of April will ship within two to three weeks.
