Mango 3D has released the beta version of Lychee Slicer 6, which arrives with a host of new features for both resin and filament 3D printers. It is now available to anyone who joins the Lychee Slicer Discord server.

Front and center of the beta is a new support engine for Lychee Slicer Resin that includes automatic parenting, support bracing, the ability to update old supports to grid supports, a bracing editor, and several other support-related features that help users save resin and reduce print failures.

One caveat: the majority of these features and improvements are reserved for Lychee Slicer Pro users – although those with the free version of the slicer can still benefit from improved bracing.

New additions to the filament slicer are headlined by a new surface ironing feature for Pro users that allows them to achieve a “much better” surface finish on flat surfaces. There are also new Boolean operations, which allow Pro users to “add and subtract objects during slicing”.

All filament slicer users can take advantage of a “hidden seams” feature, which hides marks left by layer junctions. There are also improvements to supports at slice, including an option that allows users to only generate supports that start from the build plate, and the addition of rafts under supports that aim to improve print adhesion. Overall, a lot of helpful features common in dedicated filament slicers introduced to Lychee.

The Lychee Slicer 6 beta also adds support for a multitude of resin and filament 3D printers, and a host of additional bug fixes and improvements, such as improved slicing speed for filament printers.

You can find the full write-up on Mango 3D’s blog, which dives into the details of the beta. Then, when you’re ready, log in to Lychee Slicer’s Discord server to download it and start slicing.
