Industrial 3D printer maker Nexa3D today launched a Pro version of the desktop resin machine it launched in early 2022. The XiP Pro is even zippier than the original XiP, the company says. It’s also bigger and almost 10 times the price. But there are a lot of pro features in this new version aimed at enabling businesses to print more and print faster without sacrificing any fine details.

Boosting print speed from 18 verticle cm per hour to 24 vertical cm per hour, the ZiP Pro can produce its entire build volume (292 x 163 x 410 mm) in under two hours. This measure is the foundation of the company’s claims of dramatically improved throughput.

But more than speed, this new Pro version offers several other feature upgrades. For example, the resolution is even greater because the XiP Pro has a 7K resolution LCD screen compared to 4K on the standard XiP.

The 7K screen has a 46-micron pixel size that, with anti-aliasing technology, can achieve a surface quality that appears even finer.

Extras you won’t see on similarly sized machines are the XiP Pro’s adaptive speed control that optimizes the process parameters based on part geometry and selected resin or the debris detection that alerts you to potentially part-ruining vat anomalies.

Both versions of the Xip have the Nexa3D proprietary lubricant sublayer photo-curing durable membrane, which is the part that ensures print quality. Nexa3D says their membrane requires less frequent replacement than other similar machines.

Housing all of these features in a small footprint is a solid aluminum unibody frame that Nexa3D says provides the required stability for this amount of speed. The XiP Pro is also constructed with a modular architecture so you can not only swap out parts but have access to future potential hardware upgrades.

XiP Pro Materials

Although Nexa3D offers several engineering-grade resins developed in partnership with top polymer makers like Henkel, BASF, and Keystone, you’re not limited to just Nexa3D resins. The ZiP is an open material platform 3D printer meaning you can use virtually any resin you want. The standard XiP requires you to purchase an extra software license to use third-party resins, but it’s not clear if the XiP Pro follows the same program.
