Penta Machine Company has released a desktop-sized, 5-axis CNC machine: the Pocket NC V2-8Lite.
Billed as an “affordable” yet “pared down” device, the Pocket NC V2-8Lite has a 128.3 x 115.5 x 3.55 mm travel and is aimed at use cases like prototyping and smaller-scale projects, offered at $4,900.
While it does offer lower precision and a “slightly reduced” top spindle speed of 8,000 RPM as compared Penta Machine’s V2-10 and V2-50CHK, the Pocket NC V2-8Lite nevertheless looks to be an interesting introduction to the CNC world, especially if you’re working with “soft” materials like plastic, wood, or aluminum (although it’s technically compatible with any material with a hardness of G5 titanium or below).
It’s worth noting that Penta Machine Company in our Best CNC Routers buyer’s guide, specifically for the Pocket NC-V2 – another compact, albeit more powerful, device – so at first glance the Pocket NC V2-8Lite does look very promising indeed.
You can read more about the release on Penta Machine’s introductory blog post or the Pocket NC V2-8Lite product page. As of this writing, you can expect a three-week lead time before shipping, although that’s subject to change, so be sure to check Penta’s website for the latest information and full specs.
