Peopoly’s much-anticipated Magneto X 3D printer, a beltless machine that sold out in preorders, has been delayed two weeks.
The mass-produced components the company planned to use in its machines caused printing inconsistencies that were not noticeable in pre-production units. The issue has been investigated and resolved, Peopoly wrote in a blog post yesterday, requiring updates to a PCB board within the Magneto X’s driver system. The change will result in a small “10-15 day delay”, pushing the printer’s shipping dates from the end of this month to mid-December, Peopoly says.
It’s hard to fault the transparency and accountability on display here. Delays in production happen. And, really, two weeks is short in the scheme of things – especially if it results in a functional 3D printer that works as described.
