While there are no surprise hardware announcements for Phrozen at Rapid + TCT, and we won’t be seeing much of the company’s upcoming Arco multi-filament 3D printer, there’s plenty to explore from the company’s expanding portfolio of professional resins. Very much tailored to the audience, expect to see 3D printing resins particular to prototyping and end-use, showing characteristics including flame-retardance and impact resistance, to name a couple.
The company’s new Aqua Clear Plus Glass resin promises a glass-like transparency without the yellowing that typically comes with “clear” resins. The resin’s appeal is evident, with housings and protections such as headlight lenses being one such use that depends on the material’s high light transmissivity.
Aside from optical performance, Phrozen’s Onyx Impact Plus resin is suitable in rough environments where the part must withstand repeated compressions, impacts, flexes, and all manner of strength-testing abuse. Co-developed with Loctite (in addition to the Onyx Pro410 rigid resin), Phrozen says Onyx Impact Plus offers extreme impact resistance.
Perhaps of most interest to manufacturers on the hunt for new materials and technologies will be Phrozen’s FR940 flame-retardant resin, which has its UL 94-V-0 Blue Card. Its flammability is verified as self-extinguishing within 10 seconds according to the certification criteria and testing. Finding use in automotive and electrical scenarios, it’s on the upper end of Phrozen’s growing stable of industrial resins and has already found use by the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology’s team competing in the Formula SAE competition.
This material showcase will sit alongside two of Phrozen’s newer 3D printing systems, the Phrozen Sonic Mega 8K V2, a revision of the company’s popular large-format resin 3D printer. It offers a huge print volume and uncompromising 43-micron voxel size for high-resolution large-scale printing. Likewise, the Phrozen Revo will make a showing, too. Phrozen’s sensor-laden “smart” resin 3D printer, the Revo boasts a mid-size build volume and features to make setup and printing a largely hands-off process, including plate leveling sensors, resin level detection, and print failure detection.
Phrozen’s booth, #1679, is at the back of the hall, part of a cluster of small booths to the left of the Hollywood Showcase.
