Phrozen has launched the Heat & Mix – a heating and mixing station for resin 3D printing material.

The 41.6 x 20 x 19.2 cm device should easily fit on most desktops, and can house resin containers up to 95 x 225 mm, which is “most 500/1000 g round or square bottles”, Phrozen says. Users leverage a touchscreen to choose from three modes – a five-minute shake, a long shake of up to six hours, or a heated shake at temperatures up to 50 ℃ for high-viscosity resins.

Mechanically, the Heat & Mix functions similarly to paint shakers you’d see in hardware stores, working to create a uniform mixture of color and material properties. Rather than just shaking back and forth, however, the station also rotates and moves bottles up and down for more consistent viscosity and performance.

The mixing is nice, but the value of heating your resin can’t be understated here. Printing with resin conditioned to an appropriate temperature increases your chances of print success; if you don’t have a 3D printer with a heated VAT or chamber – like Phrozen’s Sonic Mighty Revo – pre-heating might be the next best thing. If your printer does have a heater the option to pre-heat while mixing might still save some time in the pre-print phase.

The Phrozen Heat & Mix is now available for $127.49, which is 15% off its $149.99 MSRP. It seems like a handy device, especially if you frequently work with resin and want to remove some of the manual labor from your printing process.
