Phrozen has announced several design updates to its forthcoming Arco 3D printer, which will be the company’s first FDM machine.

The changes, announced on Phrozen’s private Facebook launch group, reveal some rather vague updates to the Arco 3D printer itself: changes to the “printing platform”, the “nozzle exterior”, and an added filament bracket. There are more details about the 3D printer’s add-ons, such as more changes to the Chroma Kit multi-material system, which will now come with a touchscreen, temperature and humidity “control”, four PTFE tubes leading to the hot end, and updated casing. The PentaShield enclosure, meanwhile, has an updated design and is pictured with a hinged lid.

Phrozen has told All3DP that, with the new updates, the printing platform “now supports high-temperature and dual-textured PEI plates to enhance adhesion and versatility” and that it has “increased printing power to improve efficiency and overall performance.” Meanwhile, “nozzle exterior” changes include an “optimized design compatible with a border range of nozzles, such as high-temperature and wear-resistant types.”

Phrozen says it has made “substantial improvements to the print head’s travel speed”, and has created a compensation plan for Kickstarter backers, under which all backers will receive three free nozzles.

Despite the latest changes, the twice-delayed Arco is still set for an April release, Phrozen says, and promises another update in March. The Klipper-based machine will boast a 300 x 300 x 300 mm build volume and can hit claimed print speeds of 1,000 mm/s at 40,000 mm/s² acceleration with a maximum 50 mm³/s hotend flow rate.
