Polymaker will announce a new polycarbonate material in its PolyCore pellet line aimed at “the medium temperature tooling market” at this week’s Formnext in Frankfurt, Germany.
The new material will be on display alongside the company’s new consumer material lines announced earlier this year in LA at Rapid + TCT, Panchroma and Fiberon, which recently became available in Europe.
PC-7412 is, according to press materials, a 30% glass-reinforced polycarbonate. It’s made for composite molds in temperatures of 80 – 120 ºC, boasting an HDT of 136 ºC at 1.83 MPa – which Polymaker says makes it ideal for autoclave curing processes.
On the consumer side, to showcase the company’s new 160-material Panchroma filament line, which varies in filament color and finish, Polymaker has 3D printed HueForge recreations of famous works of art. Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Diptych, Van Gogh’s Self Portrait with Bandaged Ear, and Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa will be displayed in a gallery setting in Polymaker’s booth, with frames made from Panchroma Silk materials.
“The pictures don’t really do them justice,” Polymaker Creative Director, Luke Taylor, told All3DP. “When you see the subtle textures created from the Hue Forge printing process it really brings them to life.”
Along with the artistic Panchroma demonstration is a more functional display to showcase the brand’s new Fiberon “high-performance composite filaments”.
At Rapid + TCT, Polymaker was showing off its metal-like PPS-CF by ringing a large 3D printed bell to a satisfying metallic chime. At Formnext, there will be an “automated darts system case study” using PETG-rCF08 – a PETG using recycled carbon fiber.
At least one part of the company’s LA display is carrying over to Formnext: a virtual reality tour of Polymaker’s manufacturing facility.
“In all, probably our coolest and most interactive booth ever,” Taylor said.
