Prusa Research has revealed new details about its products, including kit versions of the Original Prusa XL and MK4, and the MMU3 (Multi-Material Unit), with new shipping timelines for each.

If you’ve been paying attention since at least March, you know that Prusa has been busy. With several new products released in a short window, the company’s strenuous efforts have been visible in repeated shipping delays to new products and their variants. Many details have already been revealed on social media, but the company is now confirming comments by publishing details on its blog.

The highlight: kits for the single-toolhead XL and the MK4 are shipping now.

And, to make sure expectant makers aren’t in the dark any longer than needed, an MK4 shipping schedule is available to find out when to expect yours. Unfortunately,  the semi-assembled XL kits don’t have such a schedule.

Prusa is releasing the remaining variations of these new products in a slow drip. We’ve outlined them below:

  • Original Prusa XL Dual-Toolhead: week of June 19
  • Original Prusa XL Five-Toolhead: Mid-July (about four weeks, July 13)
  • MK3S+ to MK4 Upgrade Kit: week of June 26
  • MK3S+ to MK3.5 & 3.9 Kits: late July
  • MMU3 for MK3S/+: late June
  • MMU2 to MMU3 Upgrade Kit: July
  • MMU3 for MK4: August

Prusa’s article also details a litany of updates to its new products. Most importantly, the company has identified a problem with its first batch of MK4s (sent before April 18) that causes a significant rattle. We suspect All3DP’s review unit was among the affected systems and intend to update our review should Prusa Research support confirm this.

Other updates include the alpha release of input shaping for the MK4, XL changes based on feedback from external testers, MMU3 for MK4 difficulties, and changes to PrusaSlicer to accommodate these products. The full blog post is worth a read if you’re waiting on any of these new products.

You’ve read that; now read these:

Correction – June 16, 2023: A previous version of this article omitted that input shaping for the MK4 was released in the alpha stage, possibly suggesting a stable release to some readers.
