Prusa Research has launched two new enclosures for its 3D printers: one for the XL and one for the Mini.
The XL Enclosure, which is priced at $649, is touted as a “smart” accessory, connecting to the printer’s mainboard to enable users to tweak filtration settings via a new menu on the XL’s touchscreen.
There’s also a HEPA filter that Prusa says features “99.9% filtration efficiency,” a dual-purpose LED that illuminates the printer’s interior and indicates printer status, and temperature monitoring by way of “smart fan profiles” and vents.
The enclosure’s two-part design offers access to the printer’s toolheads with a top hatch, while a bottom-half bellows can be folded down accordion-style to improve airflow for materials that perform better at ambient temperatures, such as PLA.
The Mini Enclosure, meanwhile, is essentially a smaller-scale version of the Original Enclosure for MK3S+ and MK4 3D printers. The device can be outfitted with many of the same optional add-ons, including an “advanced filtration system” for potentially hazardous materials, a mechanical lock, a fire suppression system, and an LED strip. The vanilla version (sans add-ons) is priced at $159 and is due to start shipping at the end of this month (June 2024).
Current owners of XL or Mini 3D printers will receive discount vouchers for enclosures, Prusa writes in a blog post introducing the devices. Additionally, printer-enclosure bundles will be available in two weeks’ time.
You can find more information about the XL Enclosure and Mini Enclosure on their respective product pages, where you can also place an order.
