Prusa Research says its new HT90 is the “only 3D printer an engineer needs.” Judging by the feature list, they may be onto something. A 500°C hot end and an actively heated chamber that can reach 90°C are two strong indications of the materials it can handle, the users of which the company wants to see at its booth. It’s no coincidence that Prusa Research has developed its very own Prusament PEI filament.

Making its US debut at Rapid + TCT, the HT90 boasts Delta kinematics, a style of motion that goes hand-in-hand with high-speed printing. In a blog post, Prusa claims the HT90 can “deposit 1 kg of PETG or ABS filament in under 8 hours,” with the machine ultimately geared towards what the company calls “high-end” materials.

Smothering all this will undoubtedly be a layer of Prusa Research’s characteristic attention to detail and understanding of how a user actually uses its machines, so attendees should pay close attention to the Prusaification of this new class of printer for the company. We’ll be getting a preview of the Prusa Pro HT90 ahead of Rapid + TCT, so stay tuned for more.

We’ve yet to hear confirmation on whether other Prusa Pro devices, such as the Automated Farm System (AFS) cluster 3D printer, dental-specific Medical One resin 3D printer, or SLX concept 3D printer, will make an appearance at Rapid + TCT 2024. Two products that are likely to have their show floor debuts are the new enclosures recently made available for the company’s compact Mini 3D printer and Prusa XL toolchanger.

Those interested in full multi-material capability in their printing should pay close attention to the Prusa XL. We experienced first-hand how the XL minimizes waste when printing with multiple colors or materials and has an edge over single-nozzle systems. Despite its apparent complexity with a fully independent toolhead system,  it’s straightforward to use and is compatible with a huge range of materials, including flexibles.

Recent updates to the XL improved the printer’s performance and reiterated the company’s track record of positively supporting its hardware post-release. The addition of the enclosure expands its safety features with air filtration, better chamber temperature regulation, a fire suppression system (local regulations dependent), plus expanded printer telemetry, giving you even deeper insight into your printing and more reasons to consider the XL for your multi-material printing tasks.
