Prusa Research has released a resin mixing kit that allows you to fine-tune your prints’ colors.

The kit retails for $144.99 and includes a total of 3kg of resin in five colors – Bright Cyan, Bright Magenta, Bright Yellow, Rich Black, and Alabaster White – that are loosely based on the CMYK palette, and can be mixed to “create almost any color of the spectrum”. You’ll also get the necessary accessories to properly mix them, such as pipettes, cups, and bottles. All resins and accessories in the kit are also sold separately.

A sample book containing formulas for 44 colors comes with the kit, as well. Combine that with Prusa’s recipe calculator – which provides weight and volumetric measurements for exactly how much resin you’ll need to create exact shades of red (or blue, or grey or purple, etc) – and you should have an easy enough time getting your mix on. You can find that calculator on the kit’s product page, along with a full step-by-step guide to the resin mixing process elsewhere on Prusa’s website.

Prusa’s resin mixing kit isn’t the first on the market – a few other solutions that come to mind here include those by Formlabs, 3D Jake, and FormFutura – but it’s nevertheless nice to have another option, especially one that’s designed especially for the OEM’s own resins and includes such detailed and helpful (and seemingly intuitive) instructions.

In addition to the resin kit’s product page, where you can find specs and place an order, Prusa’s blog post is also worth a read, which delves into the five Ws of its existence.
