Any school across the globe can apply for a 5% discount on an Original Prusa 3D printer through Prusa Research’s education program, which includes access to a wide range of 3D prints and lessons.

Initially launched in the Czech Republic in 2020, Prusa Education has been accessed by 1800 schools, youth centers, libraries, and other educational institutions.

Josef Prusa wrote in a blog on August 25th:

“I expected that this would pique the interest of many schools, but I didn’t expect just how many it would be. As soon as we launched the program, the registrations started pouring in by hundreds.”

The schools involved in the initial run received a 3D printer after submitting a 3D-related educational project of their own, accessible to other schools through a database of projects that include how-to guides and lesson plans.

Now open to the public, institutions need only to sign-up to get the discount, plus access to a catalog of projects. Projects include 3D printed models for an eco-friendly house, a map of Europe, an insect house, plus an electromagnet (an exciting project that allows children to make their own magnet).

To get a sense of the platform, unregistered users can now also access 25 projects on the platform.
