Raspberry Pi has launched the wireless counterpart to the Pico 2 microcontroller board: the Pico 2 W.
Like the Pico 2, which was launched earlier this year, the Pico 2 W boasts an RP3250 microcontroller, which is faster and more powerful than the RP2340.
In fact, and as usual, the Pico 2 W is the Pico 2 down to every last detail, arriving with everything its plugged-in sibling has – a 150 Mhz system clock, dual Arm Cortex-M33 cores, and dual RISC-V Hazard3 cores, for instance – then adding wireless and Bluetooth capabilities by way of a CYW43439 modem, which is the same one that brings Wi-Fi to the Pico W.
Also like the Pico 2, the Pico 2 W comes cheap, with just a $7 price tag. That’s not quite as low as the Pico 2’s $5 MSRP, but those in need of wireless connectivity – especially for IoT applications – should have no problem forking over the extra couple bucks.
Raspberry Pi’s blog offers more information regarding the technology powering both the Pico 2 and Pico 2 W. Once you’re done there, head over to the Pico 2 W’s product page if you’re keen to pick one up.
