Rat Rig has launched the Rat Pack, a “universal” air filter that fits inside the chambers of many 3D printers.
While the fan-powered device is designed for Rat Rig V-Core 4, its smaller version is also compatible with the V-Core 3, and printable mounts allow users to attach it in several ways to the printer of their choice. The package comes with a HEPA filter – for filtering both odors and particles – fan, STLs for the enclosure and mounts, and all the screws and other fasteners needed for installation.
The Rat Pack comes in two versions, small for €42.50 (~$44), and large for €57.50(~$59), the latter of which not only has larger dimensions but seemingly provides better filtration, lasts longer, and handles higher airflow – although (perhaps obviously), it’s best suited for larger machines.
Rat Rig shouts out fan control in RatOS and Klipper (calling the Rat Pack “fully integrated” with both firmware) and points out that users can fine-tune fan settings and activity, designating the fan to automatically turn on pre, mid, or post-print (or a combination thereof). This can help with temperature control, for example, or particle and odor clearance, depending on when the fans activate.
You’ll find additional details on the Rat Pack’s product page, and a full BOM, printing tips, and a handy interactive build guide on the device’s docs page.
